The Fill Your Cup Podcast

Nov 25, 2019

I met Julie McLachlan (of Jule’s Lifestyle) years ago when I was offering freelance social media management services. The last words I remember her saying to me are, “mark my words – I’m getting a divorce”. Since hearing those words 4 years ago, she’s gotten divorced, found herself in a toxic relationship, had her third child and has undergone breast explant surgery, all while balancing the challenges that already come with balancing multiple businesses and motherhood. What could be understood as a story of things happening TO her has been transformed into a story of how things have happened FOR her as it has allowed her to step into the independent, strong woman she is today.

In this episode we discuss:

  • The danger of getting into a new relationship too soon
  • Trauma bonding as a coping mechanism
  • Gas lighting: what is it and how to be aware of it
  • Understanding your patterns that might be rooted in childhood trauma
  • How to spot a toxic relationship
  • Transitioning out of a toxic relationship
  • The journey of getting breast implants, reconstruction surgery to explant surgery
  • Why Julie decided to go through with breast explant surgery
  • Breast implant illness
  • Understanding the parenting our parents received
  • Choosing relationships that are familiar, even if they aren’t good for us
  • Empathy as a healing tool to make peace with relationships and friendships in your life
  • How not to let your problems become your kid’s problems
  • The importance of using your voice and speaking your truth
  •
